Christmas Countdown!

Only 21 days until Christmas and the holiday spirit is certainly taking over Xela. The giant Gallo Christmas tree in Minerva can be seen  illuminating the night sky throughout the city and Christmas music blasts from store fronts and chicken buses. To get in the holiday spirit, we decided to begin to decorate for our very own Fiesta de Navidad at the Family Support Center.

The project was simple, but the final result was very nice and definitely contributed to the holiday cheer that naturally comes out this time of the year. Each kid traced their hands out on colorful construction paper. On one they wrote out the date and time of our Christmas party to give as an invitation to their parents and siblings. The other one was put up on the wall!

Slowly but surely, the hands on the wall took on the form of a Christmas tree!

Brandon even added a bright yellow star as a finishing touch to our tree!

Although the Family Support Center is now officially closed for vacations, there will still be several activities and trips over the course of the upcoming weeks. The biggest event will be the Christmas Party on December 16th, where participants, their families, and Pop Wuj staff and volunteers come together to celebrate the holidays!
